Alaska Center for Rural Health and Health Workforce
The Alaska Center for Rural Health & Health Workforce (ACRH-HW) is committed to strengthening
and diversifying Alaska’s health workforce, especially in rural communities and underserved
populations. The Center is composed of a variety of programs, most notably the Alaska
Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) which is composed of six regional community based
centers throughout the state. As part of the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±'s role
as the state's health campus, the Center supports health program planning, community partnership, diversity, inclusion and intercampus
collaboration. The Center provides the framework of statewide community partnerships
to support the full pipeline of health workforce development from career exploration
to health program training to continuing education.
Students in fall's EMT 130 — Emergency Medical Technician I burnished their clinical and decision-making skills in a trio of rapid-fire trauma simulations, thanks to a first-time partnership between the Fire and Emergency Services program and the Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center.
Over 400 high school juniors and seniors from 11 high schools across Anchorage converged on the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± Alaska Airline Center on Sept. 30, 2022 to explore their future career and academic options at мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±â€™s Academic Preview Day.
The мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center (IHSSC) invites the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± and broader Anchorage community to join the global celebration of Healthcare Simulation Week September 12-16, 2022.
Students in the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± Paramedic Program and Nursing Program participated in an interdisciplinary simulation involving an active shooter incident at a Women's Health Center on the Mat-Su College campus.
