On Thursday, March 17, from noon-1 p.m., the College of Business and Public Policy AI Webinar series will focus on the fascinating world of digital twin technology. Our special guest speaker is Dr. Colin Parris, the senior vice president and chief technology officer at GE Digital.
What are digital twins?
A digital twin is a model that incorporates data continuously collected from its real-world
counterpart. Using this accurate virtual replica, businesses can monitor, control,
predict and detect issues before they occur. Digital twin technology and AI are spurring
innovation across industries, from automotive and aviation to oil/gas and energy.
Dr. Parris will show how digital twin technology helps industries respond dynamically to new challenges, resulting in a boost to productivity, streamlined operations and increased profits.
About Dr. Colin Parris
As GE Digital鈥檚 senior vice president and chief technology officer, Dr. Colin Parris
leads teams that work to leverage technologies and capabilities across GE to accelerate
business impact and create scale advantage for digital transformation. He also champions
strategic innovations and identifies and evaluates new, breakthrough technologies
and capabilities to accelerate innovative solutions for emerging customer problems.
Dr. Parris created and leads the Digital Twin Initiative across GE and is a board
member of the Digital Twin Consortium.
Dr. Parris was recently elected to the National Academy of Engineering as part of the 2022 class, for his advancement of industrial operational technologies.
Dr. Parris holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley; an M.S. from Stanford University (as a Sloan Fellow); an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Howard University.
