Join UAF Energy Specialist Art Nash for two one-hour workshops, "Energy In Alaska: History And Production" at 6 p.m., followed by "Rocket Stoves" at 7 p.m. Call (907) 786-6300 to register.
About the workshops: "Energy in Alaska" Alaska's history of energy use and production has led to planning and policies that differentiate between rural and urban needs. This discussion takes a look at past online documents, planned energy developments and information charts specific to your community.
"Rocket Stoves" Rocket stoves are the most efficient and clean biomass-burning option available. Wood gasses and oxygen mix in insulated chambers that concentrate the fire on the tip of the wood. The result is a more efficient burn using less wood and producing fewer emissions than traditional stoves. Rocket stoves are great for cooking and heating in camps and emergency situations.
