Dec. 17, 2010: Introductory workshop on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs)

The Arctic FASD RTC is offering a free introductory workshop on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) to students, faculty and members of the public. No previous knowledge of FASDs is required. This workshop will cover:
- The effects of alcohol on the developing embryo and fetus
- The characteristics of FASDs
- How to prevent alcohol-exposed pregnancies
- How individuals with FASDs are screened and diagnosed
- Treatments and therapies available for individuals with FASD
- The psycho-social and cultural effects of FASDs
These workshops meet the requirements for the State of Alaska's Department of Health and Social Services' FASD101: Insights into Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders training.
All participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the workshop.
