A concentration of the business management bachelor’s degree, мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±â€™s property management and real estate program focuses on the management of income-producing real estate assets such as apartments, office buildings, retail centers and industrial spaces. The program features extensive hands-on learning experiences, networking opportunities and over $50,000 awarded annually for academic and travel awards. 

Weidner Center for Real Estate Management
мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±â€™s Weidner Center for Real Estate Management offers state-of-the-art facilities specifically dedicated to the property management and real estate program. Hosting all of the property management and real estate courses, the center includes:

  • A 31-station computer lab with networked collaboration tables
  • Built-in A/V infrastructure for long-distance Skype interaction and video recording capabilities
  • A card-controlled access system allowing students declared in the concentration exclusive access to the space during free lab and lounge hours

Internships and service learning
Get first-hand experience managing leases, finances, tenant relations and more through job shadowing and paid internships that routinely lead to employment opportunities. Service learning projects built into the curriculum offer additional chances to work outside the classroom and get experience with real assets while making valuable connections with industry leaders.

Networking and career-building opportunities
Attend program-specific networking events such as REAL Connections, an annual recruiting event during which you can present to an advisory board of real estate professionals and get connected with internship and career-placement offers. You’ll also have opportunities to , some before you graduate.

Academic and travel awards
Each year, students declared in the property management and real estate concentration are eligible for over $50,000 in academic and travel awards to attend national conferences. This offers opportunities to network with members across the country, learn about the variety of career opportunities and see how real estate management operates in different markets. Industry organizations also offer scholarship opportunities for essay competitions.

Property management and real estate program highlights

The property management and real estate program is one of only a few programs in the United States that offers a bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in real estate management.

  • Earn industry licenses and certifications that allow you to competitively enter the job market and fast-track your career. The Real Estate Principles course meets all pre-licensing requirements for the state of Alaska – saving you money and time getting your license. Other courses count toward continuing education requirements if you already have your license. You can also save money and fast-track your career by testing for and earning industry designations before you graduate.
  • Get hands-on experience and apply classroom lessons through internships. Earn 1-6 credits toward your degree through paid internships that routinely lead to employment offers. Several students have been able to convert their internships into employment opportunities during school and have careers lined up before graduation.
  • Travel and make professional connections in the real estate industry. Ð¼ÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± offers over $50,000 annually for tuition assistance and travel opportunities to places such as San Francisco, San Diego, Orlando, Las Vegas, Seattle and Denver. These trips offer opportunities to tour real estate assets and meet with property management executives.
  • Take part in networking and career events. These activities include REAL Connections, an all-day, program-specific recruiting event hosted each spring with a dedicated advisory board of local and national real estate professionals.
  • Join мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±â€™s property management and real estate club. The PMRE club hosts a variety of events, speakers and other opportunities to interact with local and national real estate organizations. 
  • Work in state-of-the-art facilities. The Weidner Center for Real Estate Management offers a cutting-edge home base for students to learn, network and interact.

The property management and real estate concentration of the B.B.A. in management degree program provides a foundation of business fundamentals with a focus on real estate management principles, leasing, legal and risk management concerns, real estate asset maintenance and real estate investment analysis.
