College of Health Dean's Welcome

Debbie Craig

Hello, College of Health students, faculty, and staff - and Welcome Back to our Fall 2024 Semester!

It is always an exciting time of the year as our beautiful мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± campus fills back up again with eager students, faculty, and staff!  As education is our passion and lifelong learning is our goal, we are excited to host a variety of courses, research projects, student demonstrations, symposiums, and various other educational and entertaining events. Our programs in the College of Health are thriving – in great part due to our amazing students, our talented faculty and staff, and our excellent COH Leadership Team. I want to take a moment to applaud our leaders in the COH, who have been diligently at work throughout the summer and the regular academic year. I am starting my third year as Dean and can attest that this Leadership Team is the strongest I have ever worked with! Please take a moment to get to know this great team.

Given the unrelenting behavioral health and healthcare workforce needs in Alaska in essentially all professions, our focus this year will be on thoughtful and planned program growth across the College.  From our Medical Education School to Public Health to the Justice Center to Nursing and our Alaska Health Education Centers among so many others – we are committed to reducing the barriers to program growth and to program accessibility for prospective students, with the goal of widening our capacity. We have such amazing programs in the college and so many interested students, that we are continuing the work to address a myriad of barriers that limit our ability to accept all students.

With that, I’m wishing you all a stellar start to our 2024-2025 academic year and Go Seawolves!

Sincerely,
Dean Debbie Craig
